FAQs

  • The first session of psychotherapy will consist of a clinical assessment that will be conducted either in person or through video. We will gather a more detailed picture of your situation and needs, such as why you have decided to seek therapy. We will collaboratively establish your goals and develop a personalized treatment plan. During the first session we will also arrange the frequency of sessions and the best mode of therapy based on the treatment plan. The number of sessions you attend, and which mode is suitable will be based on your needs and we would continually evaluate this throughout our time together.

  • We can address several issues together, including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, self-esteem & self worth, addictions, chronic illness & pain, domestic abuse & violence, body image, relationships, parenting, prenatal & postpartum issues, life transitions, trauma & PTSD and workplace stress.

  • Psychotherapy sessions can be conducted either through in-person, video or telephone. Video and telephone will be held in a private setting, the same way in which individual sessions are held. Virtual options allow you the flexibility to attend anywhere in Ontario. In-person sessions will be held at Cookstown Chiropractic and Wellness Centre located in Cookstown, Ontario at 21 A Queen Street.

  • We will determine together which mode of therapy is best. Generally speaking, telephone is not suited for those who are presenting with severe distress, actively suicidal, or those who require a higher degree of contact/sessions. Please note that we do not provide crisis services. Telephone calls are only checked during your scheduled appointment, and will not be answered outside of this time. If you are in crisis, please call this crisis line that is accessible anywhere in Ontario at 1-833-456-4566 toll-free anytime - or text 45645 between 4 p.m and midnight ET. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. Crisis resources can be provided to you if needed during our sessions together.

  • We work with individuals ages 12 and over. If you are under the age of 16, please note that you must have a parent or guardian provide consent to attend treatment.
